Daniel Bwala, former spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar 2023 election campaign, says he is no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Bwala spoke in a chat with Channels TV’s Politics Today on Thursday.
He added that he is “very close” to joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I am not a member of the PDP. Yes, I have left the PDP,” he said.
“I am very close [to joining APC].”
Bwala was the spokesperson for the PDP presidential campaign organisation during the 2023 election. He was one of President Bola Tinubu’s fiercest critics during the election run-in.
He however switched allegiance after Tinubu became the president in mid-2023.
In early January, Bwala paid a visit to Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.
Less than a month later, he met with the president again in France.
During one of his visits, Bwala said Tinubu demonstrated a passion “to lead Nigeria out of the woods”.
Bwala confirmed his commitment to back Tinubu’s administration to succeed.
He added that if supporting Tinubu would take me to APC, “so be it”.
