Isu/Ukwa Crisis: Rep Ibe Okwara Sues For Peace, Condemns Killing Of Mrs Elem

Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa has condemned the “tragic killing of Mrs. Alade Kalu Elem” of Obiezu/Ohabuike Isu community, Arochukwu LGA following the communal clash between Isu community in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State and Ukwa community in Odukpani LGA of Cross River State.

Osonwa in a statement signed by him on Friday in Abuja, called on all parties involved in the dispute to come together, saying: “violence only begets more violence, and the cycle must come to an end.”

He said: “I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic killing of Mrs. Alade Kalu Elem in Obiezu/Ohabuike of Isu community, Arochukwu LGA. This senseless act occurred during another border incursion in the ongoing dispute between Isu community and Ukwa community of Odukpani LGA in Cross Rivers state. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

“Three people have been arrested by the police suspected to have carried out this heinous crime and prompt investigations have been instituted. I have also spoken to the Deputy Governor of Abia state H.E. Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu and the Leader of the house of Assembly Hon. Uchenna Okoro Kalu on means to find a lasting peace between Isu Community in Arochukwu LGA and Ukwa community of Odukpani LGA in Cross Rivers state.

“It is imperative that all parties involved in the dispute come together to find a peaceful resolution and prevent further loss of innocent lives. Violence only begets more violence, and the cycle must come to an end. Let us all work towards creating a safe and harmonious environment for all members of our communities. Together, we can make a difference and bring about positive change.“
