UNICROSS: ALUMNI COMMEND COUNCIL, CALL FOR CALM
The attention of the National leadership of Uncross Alumni Association has been drawn to a publication been circulated on social media, calling for the sack of the current Governing Council led by the paramount Ruler of Obudu LGA, His Royal Majesty, Utsu. Felix Ukudare; purportedly authored by Unicross Alumni.
The National Executive Council, the Board of Trustees, the Central working committee and the peace loving members of the Association condemns in totality the misleading, deceitful and shameful falsehood published on the name of the Unicross Alumni.
The general public should note that these persons have no such authority nor legitimacy to speak for the association. Investigation have shown that the message was signed by one Ndoma Njang, as secretary to the Peter Inyali committee of Friends.
We want to further state that :
1. The author(s) of the said publication do not speak for Unicross Alumni and that the pieces of shameful innuendoes so shared should be disregarded by the Visitor to the institution as well as members of the public.
2. We also call on the leadership and members of Council to pay no attention to the malicious write up as they do not speak for, nor represent the Alumni.
3. The visitor to the institution, in his wisdom would have effected a change if the current council was not performing as expected, even before now. The current Chairman holds a five year tenure, and can only be reassessed at the discretion of the Governor and not to gratify online trolls.
4. The entire members and the general public should note that Unicross Alumni does not conduct her business and affairs on social media but directly with all those concerned through the various organs and medium as it were. Therefore, the group credited with the said publication do not represent the association in any form or shape.
5. The leadership finds it inconceivable for anyone worth his or her credentials to describe seasoned academics, Administrators and other professionals in their right that populate the current Council as incompetent, incapable nor lacking in requisite knowledge on the workings of the university system. It is shameful and a huge embarrassment to which we reject totally.
6. The leadership of Unicross Alumni led by the people’s President, Comrade Paul Agwu commends the Chairman and members of Council for the stability, checks and probity they have brought to bear in the running and management of the institution.
We boldly say that we are aware of the ongoing probes, investigations and queries instituted by this council to ensure that management of the university become transparent, accountable and more responsible. Angered by these innovations, it may not be out of place to think that these barrage of sponsored attacks are not unconnected with the reforms you have brought as a representative of the visitor.
We urge you not to be deterred, as
Unicross Alumni stands with the Council and will continue to support policies and programmes that will be beneficial to the wellbeing of staff and the generality of Unicross, our Alma Mater.
We appeal once again to members to remain calm as we trust the ingenuity of His Excellency, the Governor to do what is right as always.
A peaceful Unicross and a more peaceful Cross River remains our collective desire.
Signed.
Engr. Eyo Abia
National Asst. Secretary.
