A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia state, Gen. Ijioma Nwokoro Ijioma (retd.) on Thursday, resigned his membership of the party.
In a letter addressed to the chairman of the party in the state, Chief Emmanuel Egwu, Bende LGA chair, and his Umuhu Ezechi ward chair, made available to The Whisperer, General Ijioma said he is dumping the party because of the leadership crisis rocking the party in the state.
The letter read: “Recall my dear Honourable Chairman that on 14th of January, 2022, I applied and became a member of APGA at my Ward, Umuhu Ezechi Ward as reflected above, and was issued with a membership card No. 0000449. Consequently, I was introduced through the Party hierarchy at LGC, State Executive Council and to the National Chairman. In my commitment and resolve to contribute to the growth of the Party , I was one of its four ( 4 ) Governorship Aspirants for the 2023 Governorship Primary Elections.
“Having closely watched the modus operandi of APGA vis – à – vis it’s often mouthed slogan of ” Nkea bu Nkeanyi ” and its canvassed philosophy of ” Onye Aghala Nwanneya ” both of which the operators of the Party violates at will , I have come to the conclusion that the Party is neither committed to the ” avowed ” interest of our people in general and its members in particular . Further to the above , the failure of the Party to put it’s house in order after the purported Party Convention in May 2023 which produced two factional Chairmen is the last straw that destroyed my interest in the Party . Since a house divided against itself cannot stand , I have decided to resign my membership of the Party and to continue my political odyssey elsewhere . Attached to my resignation letter is my Membership Card No. 0000449 .
“Thank you for the opportunity extended to me while I was one of your members .”
