The Whisperer Celebrates With Ace Journalist Chief Emele Onu On Birthday

An Abuja-based online newspaper, The Whisperer, has joined the media industry in celebrating with Chief Emele Onu, on the occasion of his birthday, extolling the ace journalist for his dedication to duty, devotion to nation building and determination to promote democratic values.

In a birthday message signed by the Publisher of The Whisperer, Sunny Idika in Abuja, congratulated Chief Emele Onu, an illustrious son of Ohafia as he marks his birthday today, December 25 in Lagos.

“We wish him many more years, in divine health and continued service to humanity.”

Chief Onu, ogba ife ukwu mba of Ohafia and Enyioma Amuma is an award-winning international journalist, with more than 20 years active experience in Public Relations and Journalism. He was Finance Editor at Daily Independent and Money Market Editor at ThisDay, both newspapers in Lagos. In 2011, he joined the United States-based Bloomberg LP, a global data and media conglomerate, with offices in more than 70 countries, and was put in charge of financial industry reportage. .

He obtained a B. Sc. double degree in the Social Sciences from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1995, as well as a Diploma in Shipping Management. He subsequently took courses in Financial Journalism and Media Management in the UK, UAE and South Africa.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria, Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management as well as the Finance Correspondents Association of Nigeria. In 2013, he was conferred the chieftaincy title of Ogba Ife Ukwu Mba by late Prof. Emea Okwara Arua, the Ekpudiogba Ofali Agwu 111 of Amaekpu Ohafia. He was bestowed a second chieftaincy title of Enyioma Amuma in 2021 by HRM Ezie Agba Ohafia, Ezieogo Kalu Ikenga.

Chief Onu is the Director of Media and Publicity of Mben Political Assembly, the Ohafia political think tank. He was 1st Vice President of Ohafia Improvement Union, Lagos Branch (2021-2023). He has received many Awards for meritorious and dedicated service to society, from organisations including the journalism profession, the Abia Ohafia Community Development Association, Presbyterian churches in Abia Ohafia and Lagos as well as from various youth and student groups.

He is married to Mrs Nnene Emele-Onu, a Chief Nursing Officer with the federal government health services. The marriage is blessed with five brilliant children.
