A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Hon. Ifeanyi Torty has cautioned its supporters in Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency to be wary of fake news being propagated by members of the opposition parties alleging the sacking of the lawmaker representing the Federal Constituency, Hon. Emeka Nnamani by the Appeal Court.
“Some online platforms had on Saturday made a claim of non-existent ruling of the Appeal Court, whereas the court only delivered judgement on the appeal of the PDP candidate, Hon. Chimaobi Ebesike,” Torty said in a chat with THE WHISPERER on Saturday evening.
He stated that no such ruling was delivered in the matter between Hon. Emeka Nnamani of the Labour Party and Mascot Ikwechegh of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), saying that the court was yet to deliver any judgement on Nnamani’s appeal.
The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Umuahia, Abia State capital, led by Justice Adeyinka Aderibigbe, sacked Nnamani, who is a member of the Labour Party and ordered that a certificate of return be issued to Alex Ikwechegh, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who came second in the election.
