Residents of Akawa Aroikpa in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State have experienced relief, as rehabilitation of Akawa Aroikpa road linking the major towns in the area has commenced
The road rehabilitation, which was facilitated by the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Orji Uzor Kalu, was sequel to the intervention of the senator as part of his constituency projects.
While speaking on the economic importance of the road project, Kalu said when completed, the project would enhance transportation of agricultural products from farm to markets, and also enhance economic activities in the area.
The senator advised road users to be cautious on the road and cooperate with the workers handling the road project.
Kalu also enjoined residents to watch over solar street lights installed around Nneato community and other communities and ensure that they are not vandalised.
Appreciating Senator Orji Kalu for facilitating the project, a community leader, Chief Godwin Ibe, said the road project, when completed, would reduce hardship being faced by motorists and commuters on the road.
He commended Senator Orji Kalu for the massive infrastructural development across the five local government areas of the Senatorial District, describing Senator Kalu as “God’s own working tool”.
