Austin Faani, Nollywood producer and husband to actress, Charity Eke, better known as Chacha Eke, has narrated his ordeal while handling his wife’s mental health challenge.
Chacha Eke revealed a few years ago that she has bipolar disorder and she has been on medication since then.
Speaking about what it feels like to be living with a mentally ill partner at the Meticulous People Foundation Outreach, a foundation that deals with mental illness, the producer revealed that he has done so many sacrifices for the sake of his wife.
According to him, he has sacrificed goats just to ensure his wife was healed of her ailment.
He recounted how his wife broke a mirror in the house because she felt people were creeping out of it.
In a bid to save her, he took her to a church where the pastor deceived him into sacrificing a goat for her sake.
Unfortunately, his efforts didn’t yield any positive result
“One night, I was sleeping and the next thing I heard was a loud sound. I woke up and looked everywhere and I saw my wife standing in front of a big mirror around 1a.m in the night.
“The mirror was already shattered everywhere. When I asked her what was going on, she said some people were creeping out of the mirror so she had to break it. I petted her and told her to go back to sleep.
“I am a very religious person, but I believe religion has done more harm to Africans than anything else.
“In November 2021, I took her to a church because I told the pastor that my father-in-law has killed a lot of cows for her, he said I should also kill something for her too. So I ran to Abraka market and bought a big goat for her, but at the end of the day, the same thing happened to her again.
“And I was like what next needs to be done”, he stated.
