The national leadership of Ndi Ibe Ohafia Development Union (NDU), has congratulated the senator representing Abia North Senatorial District and Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu on his victory in the national assembly election held on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
The former Abia State Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the winner of the Abia North Senatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He polled a total of 30,805 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nnamdi Iroh of the Labour Party, who polled 27,540 votes, while Chief Mao Ohuabunwa of the Peoples Democratic Party got 15,175 votes.
The returning officer for Abia-North, Mr Chinedu Nnamdi, declared Kalu the winner having polled the highest number of valid votes cast.
In a congratulatory message, yesterday, jointly signed by Deacon Ndukwe Idika (President) and Chief (Comr.) Stephen O. Idika (Secretary), NDU noted that Senator Orji Kalu’s resounding victory was an affirmation of his widely-acknowledged sterling performance as the senator representing Abia North Senatorial District.
The development union said: “Your election is an affirmation of our people’s confidence that your representation will continue to bring the dividends of democracy to Abia North Senatorial District. We urge you not to be distracted but remain focused in your representation.”
