The South East Young Professionals (SEYP) have paid a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the Federal House of Representatives member-elect, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa.
Osonwa, a candidate of the Labour Party (LP), was on February 27, declared as the winner of the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency seat by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Leader of the group (SEYP), Dr. Uzor Ngoladi, congratulated Osonwa on behalf for his victory at the polls, describing it as an act of God because political power comes from God.
Ngoladi advised him as a consummate professional and politician who has functioned in several sectors of the economy to push for reforms and policies that will impact positively on the lives of young people. He noted that Osonwa now has a louder voice as a House of Reps member and encouraged him to utilize it to serve the generality of Nigerians and not only his constituents in Arochukwu Ohafia.
The group finally endorsed Chief Ibe Osonwa for speakership office and pledged full support in all his future political endeavor.
Responding to the group’s goodwill messages, Chief Osonwa reiterated his commitment to positive legislation and assured SEYP of his intention to tackle issues relating to youth development, security, economic and social empowerment.
He added that his mission in the National Assembly will also ensure that the South East is not left out in Nigeria’s political and economic development.
On contesting for office of the Speaker of House of Representatives, Osonwa promised to try his best and consult with the Labour Party caucus in the National Assembly before joining the race as a first timer.
The group later presented a congratulatory plaque to him.
