The Abia Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia has dismissed the suit filed against the enate Chief Whip and former governor of the state, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu.
The petition submitted by John Azubuike and his party Action Alliance (AA) was dismissed on Monday, April 17, by the electoral petitions tribunal in Umuahia.
the petitioners in JOHN AZUBUIKE & ANOR v. INEC & 2 ORS, filed by the petitioners in petition No. EPT/AB/SEN/1/2023: against the election and return of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, moved to withdraw the petition.
After hearing from attorneys for the petitioners, Kalu Kalu Agu Esq., and the second and third respondents, Udo Uduma Esq. and Victor Etie Esq., respectively, the Honorable Tribunal dismissed the case.
Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa of the PDP and Mr. Nnamdi Orji of the LP were urged to follow the path of honor, concede defeat, and congratulate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who was duly elected and returned.
In response, Udo Uduma Esq. commended the petitioners for their nobility in congratulating the legitimate winner of the election and commending the petitioners’ conduct.
