Ohafia In Aba To Celebrate New Yam Festival, N200m Fund Raising For Ohafia Ultra-Modern Motor Park

Ohafia Community in Aba, Abia State, under the umbrella of Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU), Aba Branch will on Friday, November 25, celebrate their new yam festival and N200m fund raising for the Ohafia community Ultra-Modern motor Park.

The event tagged “2022 Iri Ji Ohafia Ohafia Festival and Fund Raising for Ohafia Ultra Modern Park”, which will hold at the recreation club, Park road by York, in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State, from 10am, will feature various traditional and cultural dances of the community which includes, Ekpe Ukwu, Iri Aha etcetera.

In a statement by the chairman, publicity committee, Iri Ji Ohafia 2022, Stanley Mba, The president, OIU Aba Branch, Dr Etum Okereke, describes new yam festivals as an important rite in keeping with the culture and tradition of Ohafia and Ndi Igbo at large.

He says the Aba branch of OIU is determined to uphold the tradition and culture of Ndi Igbo especially Ndi Ohafia even away from home, in line with the wishes of our progenitors as means of preserving the heritage and tradition of the Ohafia people.

According to the statement, it is for this reason that Ndi Ohafia in Aba decided to give thanks to God Almighty through celebration of their new yam festival.

The event which has His Paramountcy, Prof. E.U Imaga, Udumeze Ohafia, as Royal Father of the day also have Rev. Dr Uma Ukpai as the spiritual Father of the day.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu will be the Special Guest of Honour, while Prince Kalu Ikpemini is the chairman of the occasion.

The statement also reveals that All Governorship Candidates in the state, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, State assembly candidates as well as house of Assembly members of Ohafia origin, have been invited as Guests of honour while Dr Sam Anya (Akaekpuchionwa) is the Chief Launcher.

Dr Etum therefore calls on Presidents of the 26 community that makes up Ohafia and Ndi Ohafia living in Aba and beyond to mobilise Ndi ohafia as well as friends and well wishers of the Ohafia Community to attend and witness the rich culture and tradition of Ohafia which will be in display at the event.

Dr Etum further called on politicians, good spirited individuals to come and support Ndi Ohafia to enable the community build its ultra modern motor Park in Aba.
