The Labour Party (LP) House of Representatives candidate for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency seat at the National Assembly, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa has lauded the High Court Judgement affirming his nomination as a candidate in next year’s general election.

Osonwa in a statement signed by him on Tuesday afternoon in Abuja, said the outcome of the case was the triumph of light over darkness.

He accused an unnamed politician from Ohafia of being behind his initial exclusion by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The statement said, “Today 4th of October 2022, at the Federal High Court in Umuahia Abia-State, a court order mandating the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include my name as the flagbearer for Labour Party (LP) 2023 House of Representatives election representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency was granted.

“This was required as my name was maliciously manipulated and thereby excluded from the list of candidates while being uploaded to INEC. We have been made aware this was facilitated by an Ohafia individual who it appears is afraid to face me at the polls and rather decided to win as they usually do through the back door. While said individual and his agents casted falsehoods over the past few months. My team and I followed due process as we strategically planned the initial stages of our campaign.

“I am thankful to God for as it is said, light always triumph over darkness and the people of Arochukwu/Ohafia will not be disenfranchised as is the norm in all of Abia State. I am also thankful to my legal team for their sound knowledge and professionalism.”

Recall THE WHISPERER reported that an Umuahia High Court on Tuesday voided the exclusion of a House of Representatives candidate for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency of Abia State, Ibe Okwara Osonwa from the 2023 election.

The exclusion carried out by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against the politician was set aside on grounds of illegality, injustice and a breach of fundamental rights of the candidate.
