The leadership of Labour Party on Wednesday, disclosed that it would formally unveil the names of leaders and members that would form its Presidential Campaign Council in a few days.

This was contained in a statement released in Abuja, by the national chairman of the party, Julius Abure.

Abure disclosed that the announcement of the PCC composition would also herald the official kick off of the party electioneering campaign in full compliance with the electoral guidelines.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, had also confirmed that the party had no immediate plan to launch its campaign.

Arabambi, however pledged that the candidate would unveil his policy document on the same day he announces his presidential campaign council.

The party chairman reassured supporters that the constitution of Obi’s PCC and campaign will be ready in a few days.

The statement read, “For our numerous supporters and members across the nation, this is to inform you that we are yet to commence our own campaigns.

“The Labour Party will officially open its campaigns in a few days from now and the world will be formally notified. It will also formally unveil a list of leaders and members of the party that will form the campaign council.”

Abure also empathised with Nigerian students reeling from the face-off between Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government, saying LP felt their plight.

He said, “We are using this opportunity to sympathise with millions of Nigerian students who have been forced out of their various institutions of learning for nearly eight months by a government that has very little regard for our future generations.

“Education is the bedrock of any nation and for any government to toil with the sector is disastrous. We therefore urge the Muhammadu Buhari-led government to quickly resolve the lingering faceoff between the Federal Government and the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

“And to our esteemed university students, the Labour Party is aware of the difficulties you have been exposed to in the last seven years; a situation where students spend six years for a four year course.

“The Labour Party’s government intends to declare a state of emergency on education which will ultimately end the incessant academic disruption. The Labour Party’s government is your government and the youth will play a major role in it.”
