Democracy is a system of government in which laws, policies, leadership, and major undertakings of a state or other polity are directly or indirectly decided by the people. In simple words it is for the by the people and with the people.
With this definition one would wonder why and how the democracy would have it course when so much money is spent on getting just the presidential form alone, and then spend huge amount of money to campaign afterwards spend another to rig the election.
Nigeria is gradually failing with unpatriotic and uncivilised politicians who unfortunately got there through illegal means.
It is unheard of for a political party to peg it presidential form for 100 million ,what exactly are they trying to do or prevent?
And if voted for all they will go after is the money spent in course of election yet we want to this country to be corruption-free, with these kind of setting it is impossible to have a corrupt-free nation.
The N100 million for Presidential nomination form is over 100% increase from the amount it sold the form for the same office in 2018 at N45 million; and nearly 200% hike from N27 million it sold forms in 2014. The N100 million fee is also more than double the fee of the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which fixed its Presidential nomination form at N40 million.
It is unfortunate that in a country where hunger, strife, unemployment, insecurity, disunity, economic hardship, decaying educational system and dwindling standard of living has become normal act of state policy, the APC has slammed a N100 million price tag on Nigerians wishing to vie for the presidency on its platform.
It is very safe to say that placing the form at 100 million is to discourage the youth and the low income earner from participating in politics.
In light of the present economy, it is absolutely impossible for millions who live on less than a dollar per day to aspire to govern this country. Except thieves, robbers, kidnappers as well as elected and appointed corrupt office holders, many honest and hard-working Nigerians cannot afford that amount for just two forms.
I am calling on all agencies specifically the EFCC, to rise up to their responsibilities and go after these old men in politics, this is more fraudulent than cybercrime as our dear country is highly involve. Anyone found buying Presidential form for any aspirant should be highly questioned and if found guilty should be thrown into the prison.
Politics should not be the highest bidder.. We will be talking about policy… We must give a opportunity to every Nigerians to be able to afford the tickets we’ve not had any of the aspirants talking about the policy what they are passionate about they vision If they have any.. Reform in the police Reducing the jumbo pay of the members of Senator and Política officeholders.. How to fight insecurity .. Kidnapping Corruption Unemployment Inflection Electricity Food and housing etc… There should be a cap or limit of individual or corporate contribution to policies.. There should be a retractive law .. To try corrupt politicians and civil Servants Past presently.. Any country where politics it’s more profitable than industries is doomed
We must differentiate politics from business… Politics should be a service given me back to the people from patriotic citizens..????
