Ezie Agba Ohafia Confers Chieftaincy on MPA Director, Chief Onu

HRH Ezieogo Dr. Kalu Ikenga, Ezie Agba Ohafia, has conferred the chieftaincy title of Enyioma 1 of Amuma Ohafia on Chief Emele Onu, the Director of Media & Publicity, Mben Political Assembly (MPA).

The event took place on Thursday, during the 2021 iri ji festival of Amuma Ohafia.

Ezieogo Ikenga said the international journalist has proven himself to be worthy of the title through his “numerous and overwhelming achievements”.

Chief Emele Onu (Ogba ife ukwu mba) is an award-winning international journalist from Abia Ohafia, in Abia State of Nigeria.

He has about 20 years experience in Public Relations and Journalism. He was Finance Editor at Daily Independent and Money Market Editor at ThisDay, both newspapers in Lagos. In 2011, he joined United States-based Bloomberg LP, a global data and media conglomerate, with offices in more than 70 countries, as its Nigeria Correspondent for the financial industry.

Chief Onu obtained Combined Honours degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1995 and there after took courses in Financial Journalism and Media Management in the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and South Africa.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria, Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management as well as the Finance Correspondents Association of Nigeria. In 2013, he was conferred the chieftaincy title of Ogba Ife Ukwu Mba by late Prof.  Emea Okwara Arua, the Ekpudiogba Ofali Agwu 111 of Amaekpu Ohafia. He is the Director of Publicity of the Mben Political Assembly (MPA), the think tank committed to the emergence of Ohiafia-born Governor of Abia State, come 2023.

Chief Onu has received many Awards for meritorious and dedicated service to society, from organisations including the journalism profession, the Abia Ohafia Community Development Association, Presbyterian churches in Abia Ohafia and Lagos as well as from youth and student groups. He is married to Mrs Nnene Emele-Onu, an Assistant Chief Nursing Officer with the federal government. The marriage is blessed with five brilliant children.
