Discussions are in advance stage for former Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku to rejoin embattled People’s Democratic Party (PDP), sources confirms to THE WHISPERER on Thursday.
Maku who dumped the party in 2014 after a controversial primaries which produced Alh. Yusuf Agabi as gubernatorial candidate will join with key associates and supporters in their thousands.
The planned reunion aimed at repositioning the party ahead of the nation’s 2023 general elections has however sent jittery to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The negotiation is being handled by a former governor. Maku will be back home soon”, a state official assured.
The official who spoke under condition of anonymity assured people of the state that the Hon. Francis Orogu led leadership would continue to do more in strengthening the PDP to regain its lost glory.
He commended the party’s faithful for their contributions in rebuilding the party and urged them never to relent in that spirit to enable it reclaim power.
Efforts however to reach the former Minister for comment failed, as his line is not reachable at the moment.
Meanwhile, former Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki has stated that stakeholders in the state has resolved to put the party first above personal differences.
Saraki who is the chairman of the party’s reconciliation committee made this known after a closed door meeting with the stakeholders in Abuja recently.
