Nigerian indigenous digital satellite TV service, TStv Africa, has announced plans to roll out pay-per-view services as it begins full operation October 1.

Bright Echefu, the Chief Executive Officer of TStv Africa, disclosed this to journalists on Monday at the head office of the company in Abuja.

Echefu said TStv will relaunch with over 100 channels that would be made available to subscribers for as low as N2 per day.

“We are going to be the first to implement pay-per-view. What TSTV has done is, allow you to create your own bouquet and you have channels that are as low as N2 per day. If you have a N50 voucher, you are actually watching TV and saving your money,” he said.

According to Echefu, no other PayTV provider delivers as much high definition (HD) channels as TStv does.

“Nobody has as much HD channels as we do. We are rolling out with about 108 channels. We are going to be the first in sub-Saharan Africa to implement H.265.

“TStv has invested a lot in acquiring rights. Most channels are as low as N5 per day. As a gift to Nigerians, we are releasing one of our sports channels free for a year,” he said.

As a way to woo football lovers, the PayTV provider promised to make La Liga free to viewers, while other football leagues would also be available at very affordable subscription.

Echefu noted that the challenges that the company faced after its first launch in October 2017 had been addressws, adding that they were now better positioned to deliver quality services to Nigerians.

He said TStv Africa used the period it went off to go back to the drawing board in order to figure out its floors and address them.

The chief executive said the company will begin full operation in 18 states on October 1, while other states would come on board before October 10.

“While we were off the radar, we properly studied the business and we have created a model to fit every Nigerian’s desire. We have created the pay as you view model where Nigerians will pay only for the channels they want to watch.

“Nigerians will be able to choose their bouquet by themselves, by choosing only those channels that they want to watch and pay for with a minimal amount per pay; 108 channels are available on our platform and more than 80 of them are High Definition (HD),” he said.
