Popular activist and Philanthropist, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor has urged Edo youths to shun violence before, during and after the upcoming governorship election in the interest of peace and development of Edo State.
Eholor, who is also the President of One Love Foundation, made the call on Wednesday in a chat with the media at country home in Benin City.
He said candidates of political parties participating in the governorship election should make their campaigns issue-based and interactive in a civilized manner.
He called on security agencies and the electoral umpire to be professional in discharging their duties.
He said, “The youths should understand that they are the victims of these political bandits. None of these politicians shall remember them after the elections. I am urging them to shun electoral violence. Don’t allow yourselves to be used to and dumbed after the election.”
“We are pleading with all political players including politicians and the electorates to take a step further towards pursuing genuine peaceful election.
“We are calling on all those importing and arming thugs in the state to desist from causing violence because such actions would promote underdevelopment of the state.”
