The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the ongoing Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency bye-election, Chimaobi Ebisike has expressed confidence of winning the election. Speaking after casting his vote, Ebisike said the report he is receiving from different centres indicate that the PDP is in clear lead. “I have never had any doubt of winning this election. The Governor has done so well that the people are eager to repay his Party and my humble self with victory. So I’m not surprised that reports from the fields indicate we are leading”, he said.  

Chief Onyebuchi Ememanka, Chief Press Secretary to the Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) does not need to involve in any form of electoral malpractice to win the Aba North and Aba South bye-election. He stated this at Aba North Ward 9 in Osusu Town Hall, while reacting to the allegation that the PDP has hijacked electioneering materials for Ogbor Hill Area and Environs. He said any sane person would know Aba is a Pro-PDP area, adding that the government is committed to record a free, fair and credible election.

  Aba North/Aba South Bye-election: APC Candidate, Mascot Kalu Casts His Vote in Eziama The House of Representatives Candidate of All Progressive Congress, APC, for Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, Hon Mascot Uzor Kalu has casted his vote. Aba North / Aba South Bye-election: Election appears peaceful so far. Yet no electoral materials sited at Osusu ward 4 as at 9:45am. Voters are waiting patiently.

Defections in recent times have rattled and further depleted the number of members in the opposition camp in the House of Representatives headed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Despite its continued resistance, the PDP is losing members of smaller opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). As at June, 2019, when the Ninth House of Representatives was inaugurated, the APC held the majority with 190 out of the 360 members.
