PDP South-West Congress: Seyi Makinde's candidate beats Fayose's preferred candidate in keenly contested Southwest Zonal election.  Taofeek Arapaja, candidate of Governor Seyi Makinde in today’s Southwest zonal congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has defeated his main contender, Eddy Olafeso. Though THE WHISPERER cannot confirm the margin as at press time, unconfirmed report has it that Arapaja got 343 out of the 683 vote cast while Olafeso got 310. There were 10 voids. Details later. President Buhari appoints new DG of National Centre for Women Development

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Asabe Vilita Bashir as the new Director General of the National Center for Women Development, NCWD. The appointment was announced by the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen . The new DG takes over the leadership of the NCWD on Monday, 12 April. Ms Bashir was born in Limankara community, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. She obtained her first degree in Chemistry and Mathematics in 1988 from University of Maiduguri and obtained PhD in Educational Philosophy. She was elected into Borno State House of Assembly in 1997.

He died Wednesday at Mayfield Medical Hospital, Jos, the state capital after an undisclosed ailment.
