The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has reacted to the position of the Southern governors that the South should produce the President in 2023. The 17 Governors from the Southern part had demanded that the region produces the country’s next president. “The Forum reiterates its commitment to the politics of equity, fairness and unanimously agrees that the presidency of Nigeria be rotated between Southern and Northern Nigeria and resolved that the next president of Nigeria should emerge from the Southern Region,” they had said. Four members of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Zamfara State on Tuesday defected to the All Progressives Congress(APC). They cited the crisis within the party for their action. They are Bello Hassan Shinkafi, Ahmed Bakura, Ahmed Shehu and Suleiman Gumi. In a letter signed by Rep. Suleiman Gumi and read at Tuesday plenary, the lawmakers said they were leaving the PDP because of the crisis within it, which led to dissolution of the state chapter by the National leadership of the party.

The Supreme Court will soon fix a date to hear the motion filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) demanding the sack of Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma. The party, through its lawyer, Phillips Umeadi filed additional processes in relation to the motion filed in 2020.
