A former Senator, Andy Uba, has been declared winner of the Anambra governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress held Saturday. Despite controversy surrounding the primary, officials said Mr Uba defeated 13 other aspirants to emerge the party’s governorship candidate in the coming November 6 election. The chairman of the APC primary election panel and governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, announced the outcome of the poll at Golden Tulip Hotel, Agulu Lake, Awka, early on Sunday. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has called for the postponement of the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State. One of the Anambra Governorship Aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Emeka Etiaba has withdrawn from the race few hours to the party’s primaries. Addressing the press, the aspirant accused the party of bringing in what he described as unidentified statutory delegates through the back door. Etiaba also says that he is less concerned over whatever that happens afterwards. For violating the Electoral Act 2010 as amended, the rulling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has been ruled out of the November 6, 2021 governorship poll in Anambra State. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which dropped the hint, yesterday, in Abuja, APGA’s disqualification followed the party’s failure to comply with Section 85 of the Electoral Act.
