A former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the 2019 general elections. He contested the 2019 senatorial election under the platform of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), but resigned his membership of the party few months ago. The House of Representatives member representing Tai/Eleme/Oyigbo Federal Constituency of Rivers State, Promise Chisom Dike, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His defection was announced through a letter he addressed to the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, which was read during plenary on Thursday. The lawmaker claimed in his letter that he defected from the PDP as a result of the crisis and division in the party in Rivers State. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has given former President Goodluck Jonathan the condition under which he can contest the 2023 presidency.
