The President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded to the Senate for confirmation the appointment of one of his media aides, Lauretta Onochie, as a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission representing Delta State. The President also nominated the appointment of Prof. Mohammed Sani Katsina), Prof. Kunle Ajayi (Ekiti), and Seidu Ahmed (Jigawa). Recall Lauretta Onochie is the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, a position she has held since the inception of President Muhammadu Buhari administration in 2015.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan on Thursday said the National Assembly is determined to pass the 2021 budget before the year runs out. President Muhammadu Buhari has presented the proposed 2021 Budget of N13 trillion to the National Assembly. The President was only accompanied by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and a few ministers, while the others participated virtually, unlike previous year’s budget presentations. According to Senate President Ahmed Lawan, the new arrangement became necessary in order to maintain social distancing during the presentation, as a result of the COVID-19. Before presenting the proposed budget, the President gave a breakdown of the performance of the 2020 budget. The lawmakers also passed the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP).
