The police have arrested and arraigned a trader, Abba Shekarau, in an Upper Area Court, Mpape, Abuja, over a stolen church drum. The police charged Shekarau, 42, of Dutse Panteka, Abuja, with one count of receiving stolen property. The prosecution counsel, Stanley Nwaforaku, told the court that the complainant, Ajiboye Kayode of Power Deliverance Ministry, Duste Apo, reported the matter. He added that on March 13, Aminu Sani stole a blue drum worth N3,000 and sold it to the defendant. During a police investigation, he said, the said drum was recovered in Mr Shekarau’s possession. Graphics Content: 8 Unidentified Bodies Consisting of 7 males, 1 female evacuated from valley along Calabar-Odukpani Road  Yesterday, 8 bodies were discovered dumped in the Five Miles region on the outskirts of Calabar. THE WHISPERER reported the dead bodies, which included both males and females, were deposited in a steep valley along the double carriageway under construction. As at time of this report, the names of the remains, as well as those who may have dumped them there, is yet to be determined.  

A former Military Administrator of Oyo State, Colonel Ahmed Usman, is dead. He was said to have died around 3.00am on Wednesday in Jos, the Plateau State capital, during an illness. It was gathered his remains were being moved to his village, Okura-Lafia, Kogi State for burial according to Muslim rites. Usman was military administrator of Ondo State from August 1994 to August 1996. He governed Oyo from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.

A gas explosion has rocked the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State. The gas explosion was said to have happened around 7pm on Tuesday at Iyasoko street, Agboju, Amuwo-Odofin. Nosa Okunbor, spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said officials of the agency were on their way to the scene. As of the time of the report, it was not clear what caused the explosion. Some residents are said to have sustained varying degrees of injury while attempting to put out the fire. Fifteen beheaded bodies were on Tuesday morning found dumped at Five Miles area on the outskirt of Calabar, capital of Cross Rivers state. The dead bodies comprising both males and females were dumped in a steep valley along the double carriageway under construction, Vanguard reports. A police officer was shot while trying to foil the abduction of some of Tungan-Maje community in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja on Tuesday morning.
