Nigerian senators on Thursday denied the electoral commission (INEC) the power to transmit results of elections electronically. Rather, the lawmakers empowered the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the National Assembly to determine the use of electronic transmission in an election. A total of 52 senators voted in favour of granting the powers to the NCC and NASS while 28 voted against it. A total of 28 senators were absent during the voting process. The Indigenous People of Biafra has stated that Governors Nyesom Wike and Willie Obiano of Rivers and Anambra states respectively allegedly bankrolled the abduction and repatriation of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. According to the statement made available by the IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, to SaharaReporters on Thursday, the two governors willingly offered to aid the Nigerian government in capturing the Biafra secessionist leader, to protect their political interests. Matthew Kukah, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, has told the United States Congress Commission that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is helpless. The leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has appealed to a Federal High Court in Abuja to transfer him to Kuje prison in Abuja. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, said on Wednesday that more suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of Usifo Ataga, the chief executive officer of Super TV. Mr Odumosu, during a parade of suspects at the police command in Ikeja, said the police have established a case of conspiracy and murder and more suspects have been arrested. The Imo State Government has sealed Rochas Foundation College, Orji, in Owerri.
