A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo South Senatorial district, Pa Owere Dickson Imasogie has been abducted by some unidentified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers. He was said to have been abducted alongside his driver and another person, whose identity had not been ascertained, at the Benin-Agbor highway in the early hours of Monday, September 13. The much expected list of Commissioners will be sent to the Edo State House of Assembly this week by Governor Godwin Obaseki according to a high ranking government official. According to ChrisOsa, The list has Barrister Leslie Ebhotemhen, an Abuja based lawyer. Another nominee is Barrister Damian Lawani, former Commissioner for Youth, and former member of the Edo State House of Assembly. The full list is expected to be read at the floor of the House on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021.

At least 240 inmates have escaped the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kabba, Kogi State, following an attack by yet to be identified gunmen. The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) spokesman, Mr Francis Enobore confirmed the incident in a communique on Monday, stating that the attack took place at about midnight on Sunday. According to him, the attackers in their numbers arrived at the custodial centre heavily armed and immediately engaged the guards in a fierce gun battle. Mben Political Assembly (MPA), the think tank pushing for a governor of Ohafia descent for Abia State in 2023, has applauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for appointing two illustrious sons of the community commissioners and also naming a daughter of the area, in a recent political appointment. Unknown gunmen kill Igwe Aguleri, Alex Edozieuno Gunmen on Friday allegedly killed the former traditional ruler of Aguleri, in Anambra State, Alex Edozieuno, and his driver, identified as Chukwuemeka. The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Friday ordered the Rivers Government, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, and the Attorney-General of the Federation to maintain status quo, pending the hearing and determination of applications before it in respect of the Valued Added Tax, VAT. The Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, had on August 9 declared that it was the Rivers Government, and not FIRS that should collect VAT and Personal Income Tax in that state.
