The Police Service Commission (PSC), on Thursday, rejected the promotion of a former Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu. The Commission said it is awaiting clearance from the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and the Office of the Inspector General of Police. The announcement was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by its spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani. Daily Trust reports that rumours were rife few days ago that President Muhammadu was planning to promote embattled former boss of the anti-graft agency.

Human rights advocacy group, One Love Foundation, has filed a suit against the Nigerian Government before the ECOWAS Court over the recent killing of a Lagos State street hawker at Ojota on Saturday, 3rd July, 2021. The 14-year-old yoghurt hawker, simply identified as Jumoke, was allegedly killed by bullets reportedly fired by a security operative, who was dispersing Yoruba Nation agitators at Ojota, Lagos State. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Scientific Equipment Development Initiative, SEDI, Enugu State, Prof. Simon Ndubuisi has been reportedly assassinated in Enugu State. DAILY POST learnt that the Federal Government Agency Director was murdered by unkonwn gunmen along the Enugu Port-Harcourt Expressway on Wednesday. He was being driven in his official vehicle marked “SEDI 26D 02FG”. His police orderly was also killed by the gunmen. The fate of his driver is still unclear as of the time of filing this report. The ECOWAS Court has announced July 9 as the date for the hearing of the coalition of applications against the Twitter Ban instituted by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The ECOWAS Court stated this in a virtual court sitting held via zoom on Tuesday. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday said that the former Finance Minister, Mrs Kemi Adeosun did not need the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC) discharge certificate to take up any ministerial appointment or before standing for any elective office in the country. The court held that Adeosun who graduated in a London University in 1989 was already 36 years of age, therefore, exempted from participating in the NYSC scheme. President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the collaboration between security agencies on the operations against Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho. His spokesman, Garba Shehu, said they executed with great synchronization with arrests of individuals who had inflicted pain and hardships on fellow citizens.
