Popular human rights group, One Love Foundation has said the lifting of the ban on Twitter by the Federal Government of Nigeria is an affirmation that it violated the rights of its own citizens. The former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, is dead. Mr Alao-Akala’s death was confirmed by the spokesperson of his party, APC, Olatunde Abdulazeez, in an interview with Punch newspapers on Wednesday. The Ogbomoso-born politician was 71 years old. A source close to the former governor told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr Alao-Akala, who had been battling a terminal ailment, died Wednesday in his room in Ogbomoso, his country home. Former Nigerian leader Ernest Shonekan dies at 85 Chief Ernest Shonekan, the former head of the Interim National Government that succeeded the military junta of General Ibrahim Babangida, is dead. Shonekan, a boardroom guru before his selection to head the Interim National Government, died in Lagos at the age of 85, according to TVC. A Northern group, Arewa Solidarity & Peace Movement (ASPM), has slammed the Attorney General of Federation, Abubakar Malami for allegedly instigating the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, against the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. A prominent Islamic scholar in Kano, Dr Ahmad Bamba, has died at the age of 79. His son Ahmad Ahmad confirmed the death to DAILY NIGERIAN, saying his father died at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital on Friday morning. His funeral is expected to hold at the Darul Hadith Mosque, Tudun Yola after Friday prayer. Governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to proscribe the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN).
