The University of Benin, on Wednesday failed to make an appearance at a Benin High Court in a case filed by Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor of Evolino Nigeria Limited against the institution over unpaid contracts. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointments of new chief executives for some agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education. Bem Goong, a spokesman for the Ministry of Education announced this in Abuja on Wednesday. He listed the new appointees as: Professor Akpama Ibar as Executive Secretary, National Commission For Mass Literacy, Adult And Non-Formal Education; Professor Chinwe Anunobi, Director/CEO, National Library; and Prof. Musa Maitafsir as Director/CEO, National Teachers Institute. “All the three appointments took effect from September 2 and would each be for an initial tenure of five years,” he said. Although the government blamed the ban on lack of building plan approval, the banks insisted it was due to the last Monday sit-at-home.
