Mben Political Assembly (MPA), the think tank pushing for a governor of Ohafia descent for Abia State in 2023, has applauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for appointing two illustrious sons of the community commissioners and also naming a daughter of the area, in a recent political appointment. Unknown gunmen kill Igwe Aguleri, Alex Edozieuno Gunmen on Friday allegedly killed the former traditional ruler of Aguleri, in Anambra State, Alex Edozieuno, and his driver, identified as Chukwuemeka. Both men were said to have been allegedly ambushed and killed at Otuocha in the Anambra East Local Government Area of the state in the early hours of Friday. The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Friday ordered the Rivers Government, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, and the Attorney-General of the Federation to maintain status quo, pending the hearing and determination of applications before it in respect of the Valued Added Tax, VAT. The Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, had on August 9 declared that it was the Rivers Government, and not FIRS that should collect VAT and Personal Income Tax in that state. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has signed into law the State VAT Bill as passed by the House of Assembly. Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo, says the sit-at-home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) against the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari was only on social media platforms. Following the death of Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua earlier this year, Justice Tijjani Ringim of the Federal High Court, Lagos has affirmed Mrs Evelyn Joshua as a trustee of Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in line with with the church’s constitution which prescribes a minimum of three trustees for the church.
