The Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday said it detected 2.7 million cases of double registration carried out during the last Continuous Voter Registration and that the affected persons have been deleted from the voter register. Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has appointed 14,000 advisers for various political units in the State. The Governor, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, said the advisers would play a pivotal role in the administration. He said: "In addition to the 14,000 advisers, Governor Wike has also appointed 319 Ward Liaison Officers and 40 Local Government Area Liaison Officers. The appointments are with immediate effect." Senior Advocate of Nigerian, Femi Falana has expressed optimism that the lingering strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will be called off in days and not weeks. Operatives of the security outfit of former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo, have intercepted an illegal vessel loaded with crude oil in Delta State. According to a report by Gbaramatu Voice News on Sunday, the crude oil tanker, was loaded with an unspecified quantity of crude oil at the Escravos River in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, when it was intercepted on Thursday. Tompolo’s security outfit was recently awarded a pipeline surveillance contract to curb crude oil theft in the Niger Delta. See photos

Dr Ibrahim Aminu Kurami, a member representing Bakori Local Government Area in Katsina State House of Assembly on Monday died in Saudi Arabia. Daily Trust reports that the lawmaker had gone to Saudi to perform Umrah. A family source said he died after a brief illness in Madinah at around 2am Nigerian time. He left behind two wives, 11 children and three grandchildren. Kurami was elected into Katsina State House of Assembly in a by-election conducted on October 31, 2020, following the death of his predecessor, Hon. Abdurrazak Ismail Tsiga.
