A federal high court in Umuahia, Abia state, has ordered the federal government to return Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to Kenya. Kanu was extradited from the East African country to Nigeria in June 2021. The court also ordered the government to pay Kanu N500 million as damages for his illegal abduction and violation of his fundamental human rights.   Details later.

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday said it will conduct governorship elections for Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states on November 11, 2023. The Benue Youth Forum, BYF, on Monday, lashed out at the Peoples the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar over his comment on the recent killing in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State by Fulani herders. Unidentified gunmen on Friday attacked the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleman along the Benin Auchi Road, Edo State, and allegedly killed seven persons including three policemen. The Punch gathered that Suleman returned from a foreign trip and was heading to a destination in Edo State when the gunmen attacked his convoy around the Auchi area of the state. During the attack, the gunmen reportedly opened fire on his convoy, allegedly killing three of his police orderlies and four other yet-to-be-identified persons.
