Some men, suspected to be armed robbers, on Thursday evening attacked a bullion van at Elemosho Village along the Akure-Ondo Expressway in Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State, making away with an undisclosed sum of money. According to an eyewitness, the robbers waylaid and attacked the bullion van belonging to one of the commercial banks, as it headed towards Akure at about 5 pm. Unknown gunmen have attacked Obosi Police Station in Idemili North local government area of the state and killed two officers. This is coming barely 24 hours after the newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Christopher Adetokumbo Owolabi, resumed duty in the state. The gunmen attacked the police station late Wednesday, freeing all detainees before setting the station on fire. Sporadic gunshots were reported early Tuesday and a home burnt in Umuneke-Nta in Isiala Mbano local government area of Imo state after security operatives stormed the community. Their entry is believed to be in search of a leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, identified as 50-year-old Theddus Ekechukwu, aka Moputu according to Daily Trust.
