Gunmen have killed seven herders in Chol Village of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. The spokesman for the State Police Command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, who confirmed the attack, said the incident occurred on Thursday evening. Some of the aides of Yoruba activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo (aka Sunday Igboho) have regained their freedom from the gunmen who abducted them at his residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, in the early hours of Thursday. Sources say some of the abducted victims were released by the gunmen in Ekiti State. Those who were released, the source said, include a woman thought to be Igboho’s wife, his aides, children of his boys. They were reportedly given N20,000 to board vehicles to Ibadan. Zamfara Assembly Member Shot Dead In Katsina Hon. Mohammed Ahmed, a member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, has been shot dead. According to Daily Trust, Ahmed was said to have been killed by bandits along Sheme- Funtua Road in Katsina State. Zamfara and Katsina, neighbouring states in the North West are among places where bandits have been wreaking havoc. The United States Consulate General has said it inaugurated two new centres in Enugu and Benin City, the Edo State capital. The effort, it noted, was aimed at engaging more Nigerian audience. There are 13 American centres in Southern Nigeria. Unknown gunmen on Sunday evening abducted the daughter of Alhaji Bayo Fulani at his residence located around Ga-Fulani, Ora-Igbomina area of Ifedayo in Osun state. Reports have it that the gunmen in their numbers attacked the victim’s father attempting to kill him, but bullets were not penetrating his body. A student of the Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been shot dead. The deceased had joined his colleagues, who were protesting over hike in school fees, when security operatives made attempt to disperse them forcefully. Speaking with Daily Trust, one of the protesters, who preferred anonymity, said they came out to protest over the increase of school fees in the state-owned institution when they met security operatives outside the college.

A 45-year-old man simply identified as Mr Christopher, on Saturday night in Benin, beat his 39-year-old wife to death over N2,000. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the incident happened at No.1, Agbontaen Street, beside Ebvareke Secondary School, off Agboniro Street, Uselu, Benin City.
