Gunmen have killed a Chief Superintendent of Police, (CSP) Fatmann Dooiyor. Dooiyor, who was the Divisional Police Officer for Omuma, Governor Hope Uzodimma’s community in Oru East Local Government area of Imo State, was among those who tried to repel the attack. Two of the abducted students of Bethel Baptist High School have regained freedom after they escaped from the bandits’ den two weeks after their abduction. A senior staff of the school, who doesn’t want to be mentioned, disclosed this to Daily Trust on Thursday. It was gathered that the escaped students, who are brothers, are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital. The Police in Enugu State have confirmed the deadly attack on its officers at a checkpoint in Obeagu-Amechi Community in Enugu South Local Government Area. Bandits on Sunday killed 13 policemen and three others in an attack on Kurar Mota community in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Residents told Daily Trust that the armed men had earlier attempted to invade Magami, a community located 50km south of Gusau, the state capital, but were repelled by soldiers. “They withdrew after they were overpowered by the soldiers there. A multi-million naira shopping centre, Ebeano supermarket, Lokogoma, Abuja, is currently on fire. The inferno, which started a few hours ago was described as massive. The cause of the fire outbreak could not be immediately ascertained but it was learnt that many fire fighters are currently battling to put it out. The FCT Fire Service spokesman, Ibrahim Muhammad, confirmed the incident on Saturday night. He stated, “Ebeano supermarket is on fire and many FCT fire stations namely Nji, Games Village, Garki and Asokoro are there fighting the fire.”

Bandits have reportedly abducted about 45 persons in Zamfara communities. The affected communities are Badarawa, Maberaya, Kware and Kurya, all under Shinkafi local government area of the state.
