When I left Calabar for Umuahia as an undergraduate to participate in the December 2018 NAASS senate congress, among the programs scheduled for the event was the award of performing lawmakers from the state, ranging from state to federal as comrades came together to analyze achievements of elected lawmakers as regards to who returned best in the their various categories. From State lawmakers to senatorial district, there was stiff rivalry and heated debate between student leaders and organizers on whom should emerge best from the three legislative categories, when it got to the best house of Representatives member, all and sundry was unanimous in the decision that Hon. Uko Nkole (Mr Projects) was a recurring trailblazer, and an uncommon achiever whom had through his first tenure shown that a member of the green chambers can do more.
Indeed, it was no fluke nor misjudgement, Hon. Uko Nkole’s name was virtually everywhere, and so were his achievements. For a political neophyte in the state, it would be near impossible to believe that Hon. Nkole was a federal representative out of the eight federal constituencies in the state, shuttle bus and vehicles wherein his name and photographs were boldly scripted on, roamed around Umuahia metropolis be it morning or night, and his constituents beared witness of his astute and unprecedented representation, the reoccurring issue as regards to the then collapsed Nmuri bridge which is now firmly resolved by the repairs of the bailey and construction of a new bridge among other numerous capital projects he attacted, but how often will unscrupulous elements try to run down people of goodwill?.
At intervals, including the run up to the 2019 general polls, those who felt threatened by the ingenuity and people’s centric developmental strides of the Ozu-Abam born politician has often resorted to recruiting media urchins to spur propaganda against his person, on various times they tried hard, but more harder they failed. Hon. Uko Nkole did not become a pro masses leader became he wanted to be the political leader of any clan, LGA, nor senatorial district. Rather, he was coming on board to rewrite the narratives through quality representation.
As Hon. Uko Nkole continues in his gigantic developmental strides, it is not expected to be without hurdle, when the political jobbers and keyboard propagandist came hard prior to 2019, it was in their mischief that instigated the unsuspecting populace to seek for the federal lawmaker’s antecedents, and in return, they came to the unanimous agreement that Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole is a redefined trailblazer whom just like air you can attack, but cannot catch. With the Abaji Abam on the wheel, the people of Ohafia/Arochukwu are sure to keep enjoying the dividends of democracy, to the benefit of the masses and to the glory of God.
