The Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 5,
Benin City
Sir,
A CASE OF THREAT TO LIFE, LAWLESSNESS, OPPRESSION AND ACTS CAPABLE OF CAUSING BREACH OF PEACE: CALL FOR URGENT INTERVENTION.

We write as solicitors to CHIEF PATRICK OSAGIE EHOLOR, also known as “Ultimate Equal”, the Founder and President, “One Love Foundation; a Non – Governmental Organization, who we shall refer to as our client in this petition.

It is our instruction that our client is the owner in possession of a vast land situate at Obe Community in Benin City.

On or about the 23rd day of April, 2021, following destruction on our client’s crops and property on the land by one MR. FRIDAY, who claimed to be acting for an undisclosed person at that time; ISMAILA SULE MOHAMMED, an employee of our client made a report at Etete Police Division. Our client’s employee made an entry on the criminal acts of the said FRIDAY.

One policewoman at Etete Division made a call to FRIDAY to report and answer to the allegations against him
Our client and his employee were shocked when they learnt that FRIDAY said he was not going to come to the Police Station because “CHIEF IGBINEDION, the Esama of Benin Kingdom” had called the Inspector General of Police and the AIG office, Benin City and he will not come or answer to Etete Police Division.

Our client further informed us that while he was still thinking of his next line of action on the matter, few days later, FRIDAY again came to his farm, this time, he was armed with dangerous weapon, a matchet along with about 3boys who were wading planks and cutlasses. They again attempted to start destroying things in the farm but luck ran out of them, when workers in the farm came out in their numbers and our client also came, the boys that came with FRIDAY ran and escaped, while FRIDAY was over powered and disarmed.
Our client further informed us that one notable utterance that kept coming from MR. FRIDAY was that CHIEF IGBINEDION asked him to do what he did and nothing will happen. Our client informed us that as a Benin man, he has great regard for the traditional institutions and that include the Chiefs and the Elders. It is also our client’s firm believes in the rule of law no matter who is involved. There is no one greater than the laws of his country. Nigeria is not and must not be made banana republic.

Our client again informed us that he was shocked when after FRIDAY was disarmed and he asked him to report to Etete Police Division, he again boasted that he cannot answer to Etete Police Division on the instruction of CHIEF IGBINEDION, the Esama of Benin Kingdom. Our client had thought it was a mere bluff by FRIDAY until few days ago when he received a call from the AIG, Zone 5, Benin City on the complainant of the same MR. FRIDAY asking him to report at the AIG office, Benin City.
Our client further informed us that one of the Police from AIG office, Benin City called him and informed him that CHIEF IGBINEDION called from South Africa and directed the Police to arrest him and that our client was holding a meeting in his house. Our client had indeed also observed that strange fellows have been monitoring him and no wonder his whereabouts for his arrest was accurately reported to the police.

Our client informed us further that twice, persons accosted him and warned him to stay away from “chief’s land”. Our client has no land or any dealing with CHIEF IGBINEDION to his knowledge except a civil suit he filed recently against one MR. OSUNDE, his in-law in suit NO: B/73/2021 pending at the High Court, Benin City.
Our client humbly uses this medium to appeal to your office to quickly intervene in this matter and carryout a deep investigation. There is also a case filed already opened at Etete Police Division, on the genesis of this issue, it will be useful and helpful.

Our client has implicit confident in you in the ability to do justice in this case.
