Tension As Village Head, 11 Others  Killed In Bandit Attacks In Kaduna, Sokoto Communities

A village head and 11 others have been killed in bandit attacks on communities in Sokoto and Kaduna respectively.

The village head of Tunga and two others in Illela local government area of Sokoto state were killed when marauders attacked the village during sunset prayers on Wednesday. The attackers operated for a full hour, THE WHISPERER has learned.

According to Daily Trust, the Nasarawa village in Sabon Birni local government area was attacked same day but no life was lost.

According to Ibrahim Adamu, the attackers came on foot around 10:30 pm.

“They ransacked all our houses, collecting money and anything material. They also whipped and dispossessed married women whose husbands fled the attack,” he said

Nine other people were killed in separate attacks spanning Birnin Gwari and Giwa local government areas of Kaduna State.

According to a security report, the bandits barricaded the Dogon Dawa-Kuyello road, after Ungwan Gajere village of Birnin Gwari LGA, and shot six people dead.

Daily Trust learned that those murdered were identified as Nura Rufai, Sanusi Gajere, Yakubu Labbo, Usman Dangiwa , Alhaji Abdulhamid and Janaidu Tsalhatu.

Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan who confirmed the incidents in a statement issued on Thursday said at Ungwan Maje, also of Birnin Gwari LGA, armed bandits shot and killed two persons, identified as Haruna Dotu and Hamisu Mohammad while armed bandits also attacked Kwama village in Giwa LGA and killed one Nasiru Rufai, after he resisted their attempts to kidnap him.
