Confusion as another Court stops INEC from issuing Certificate of Return to Ararume
Aftermath of Imo North Senatorial poll; legal fireworks, might not be ending soon as another court of concurrent jurisdiction has retrained the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC from issuing Certificate of Return to Senator Ararume.
Few hours after an Abuja Federal High Court orederd that Ararume be issued certificate of return by the electoral commission, a federal high court sitting in Owerri, the Imo State capital has restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from issuing the certificate of return to Ifeanyi Ararume.
The recent order of the court came as a result of the motion filled by the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Comrade Kelechi Soribe and five others.
Following an application of motion ex-parte by the plaintiffs by their lawyer, Fintan Ilika, the presiding judge, Justice E. O. Agada of the Imo High Court in an interim injunction, ordered INEC not to issue a certificate of return to Ararume pending the determination of the substantive suit.
The judge also granted that his order could be served on the defendants by substituted means.
