Former Abia Deputy Governor Ude Oko Chukwu Resigns from PDP

 

Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, immediate past Deputy Governor of Abia State, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing personal reasons for his decision.

In a letter dated August 5, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of Ndi Elu Ward in Nkporo, Ohafia Local Government Area, Sir Oko Chukwu stated that his resignation takes immediate effect. The letter was received and acknowledged on August 7, 2025.

The former Deputy Governor, who served from May 2015 to May 2023, described the move as a difficult but necessary decision, noting that it was the best course of action for him at this time.

“You may wish to note that I am resigning due to personal reasons. While it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time,” he wrote.

 

He expressed deep appreciation to the PDP for the opportunities it gave him to serve at various levels, and acknowledged the experience and knowledge he gained throughout his years in the party.

“I am most grateful for the opportunities the Party availed me to serve at various levels and appreciate the experience and knowledge gained during my membership of the Party,” the letter further read.

Sir Oko Chukwu concluded the letter by thanking the party leadership for their understanding and support, wishing them well in future endeavours.
