Ikenna Ukwa Progressive Group Backs Senator Orji Uzor Kalu For Continued Senate Leadership

The Ikenna Ukwa Progressive Group has declared its support for Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, commending his numerous developmental interventions across Abia North Senatorial District, especially in Ohafia Local Government Area.

In a statement signed by the Director General of the group, Igwe Francis Okereke, the group said it had carefully observed the ongoing discussions regarding the Abia North Senate seat and felt compelled to state its position.

According to the group, its principal, Hon. Chief Ikenna Ukwa, firmly believes in the supremacy of the party and the right of every member to seek elective office in a democratic setting.

The group, however, maintained that while it supports healthy political competition, it is important to recognise and celebrate the outstanding representation of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

They noted that his performance has positively altered the history of legislative service in Abia North, with notable achievements even in Ohafia LGA.

As part of its position, the group highlighted several projects facilitated by Senator Kalu in Ohafia, including the renovation of multiple community schools, the provision of educational materials to several others, and the construction of key rural roads and infrastructure.

The projects listed include Ujurueze Community Primary School, Amuma Community Primary School, Isiugwu Community School, and others in Abiriba and Nkporo communities. Numerous schools also benefitted from educational materials, such as Abia Model Basic School, Otodo Model Primary School, and Ambele Central School, among many others.

The group further acknowledged the provision and installation of solar-powered street lights across communities in Abia North, facilitated by Senator Kalu. Also mentioned were the construction of roads like Bourdex Road in Abiriba, rural roads in Agboji and Amangwu, and other roads in Ohafia and Nkporo. The construction of a school hostel at Hope Waddell International Secondary School, Ohafia, and the renovation of Okoko Primary School, Nkporo, were also referenced.

The Ikenna Ukwa Progressive Group expressed optimism that, given Senator Kalu’s visibility in the Senate and his legislative track record, he is well positioned to attain a more influential role in the next dispensation. According to the statement, such an elevation will bring greater developmental benefits to the people of Abia North.
