Count Us Out’ — Abia North Leaders Reject 2027 Coalition, Reaffirm Support for President Tinubu, Senator Orji Kalu

Stakeholders from Abia North Senatorial District have reaffirmed their support for President Bola Tinubu and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, firmly rejecting any coalition allegedly being formed against the President ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking under the banner of the Abia North Peace Foundation, the leaders — comprising lawyers, doctors, traditional rulers, youth and women leaders — made their position known during a press conference on Monday in Umuahia.

The Foundation’s President, Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu, alongside Prince Kalu Umeh, stated that Abia North remains solidly behind Tinubu and Kalu, describing any opposition coalition as “dead on arrival.”

“We are not part of any plot against President Tinubu,” Chief Ukaegbu declared. “Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has consistently mobilised support for Mr President across Abia State and the South-East. His leadership is a blessing to our people.”

The leaders also lauded Senator Kalu for his numerous achievements in Abia North, particularly in infrastructure development. They highlighted the rehabilitation of key roads such as the Idima Abam Road in Arochukwu Local Government Area, the Ndi Orieke Road in Ohafia Local Government Area, the Alayi-Okafia Road, the Itumbauzo Road, and the Okai Item Road.

“Today, thanks to Senator Kalu’s intervention, roads that were once impassable have been rebuilt to modern standards, connecting communities and boosting local economies,” Prince Umeh noted. “Beyond roads, he has facilitated the construction of classroom blocks across rural areas, provided scholarships for indigent students, and empowered women and youths with grants and training opportunities.”

The stakeholders further commended Kalu for his role in uniting the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his bridge-building efforts as critical to the party’s growing strength in the state.

“Senator Kalu remains the best governor Abia has ever produced,” Chief Ukaegbu affirmed. “His time in office laid the foundation for the state’s development, and his continued service at the Senate is a testament to his enduring commitment to the people.”

They called on other South-East leaders to emulate Senator Kalu’s style of inclusive and pragmatic leadership, stressing the need for unity and purposeful governance as the 2027 elections approach.
