Defections: PDP Convenes Emergency Meeting On Tuesday

People’s Democratic Party, PDP has called an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee, following the gale of defections that rocked the party.

In an invitation letter sent to members, Setonji Koshoedo, the acting secretary appointed by PDP governors, said the meeting will hold at the NWC hall of the national secretariat on Tuesday.

According to the letter, the meeting will address the wave of defections and other internal crises that have plagued the party.

The invitation letter reads, “Based on popular demand and wide consultation, I have been directed to call for an NWC Meeting as detailed below:

“Date: Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, Venue: National Working Committee,NWC, Hall, Wadata Plaza, PDP National Secretariat, Abuja. Time: 12 Noon Prompt.

“All members of NWC and Cabinet Secretaries should pls note.”

Recall that last week, the governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevbori, alongside the 2023 vice presidential candidate of the party, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, dumped the opposition party and joined the ruling All Progressive Congres, APC.

He joined alongside the former vice presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 election.

All members of the state House of Assembly, local government chairmen and commissioners also followed the governor.

Similarly, many members of the opposition at the national assembly had defected to the APC.
