Rep. Ibe Okwara Osonwa Mourns The Passing of Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga

The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives.

Hon. Onanuga, who represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, after a brief illness.

In his condolence message, Rep. Osonwa described Hon. Onanuga as a remarkable lawmaker whose passion for service and commitment to legislative excellence left an indelible mark in the National Assembly.

“Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga was a compassionate leader, and a dedicated representative of her people. Her passing is not only a loss to the House of Representatives but also to the entire nation. She will be deeply missed,” Rep. Osonwa said.

Born on December 2, 1965, Hon. Onanuga was first elected to the House in 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC). During her tenure in the 9th Assembly, she chaired the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, where she championed women empowerment and social welfare policies. Re-elected in 2023, she served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Assembly.

Rep. Osonwa extended his condolences to the family of the late lawmaker, the people of Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, and the entire National Assembly. He prayed for the repose of her soul and for comfort for all who mourn her loss.
