VIDEO: Rep Ibe Okwara Osonwa Expresses Frustration As Vandals Wreak Havoc On Ohafia Power Infrastructure

The lawmaker representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa, has stated that vandalism of power infrastructure in Ohafia Local Government Area has escalated, with damages now extending to around 26 spans of stolen aluminum bare conductors.

“The affected area spans from the proposed university site down to Amaekpu mortuary and reaches the uncompleted transmission station in Ohafia. Officials estimate that approximately 5,500 metres of bare conductor will be required to replace the stolen cables,” Rep Osonwa said.

The lawmaker noted that he has been working with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to restore electricity supply to Ohafia but expressed frustration, highlighting that efforts are continuously hindered by recurring theft of replaced equipment.

He called for collective action, urging residents to identify those responsible for the theft and treat them as public enemies to protect essential infrastructure.
