Udo CHIA Foundation, a frontline socio-political and humanitarian organization, has expressed profound appreciation to Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex C. Otti, for establishing the Greater Ohafia Development Agency (GODA).
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, and signed by Pastor Okey Udo, Ph.D., President of Udo CHIA Foundation, praised the initiative as a transformative approach to addressing longstanding socio-economic challenges in Abia North Senatorial District of the state.
The statement reads, “On behalf of the Udo CHIA Foundation and the progressive indigenes of Ohafia, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to you for your establishment of the Greater Ohafia Development Agency (GODA). This initiative is a groundbreaking step in advancing development and addressing socio-economic challenges that have long affected our communities in Abia North.
“With a population of over 250,000 residents in the Ohafia region, and with an estimated 40% of youth facing limited job opportunities, GODA’s formation is critical to transforming these statistics and providing pathways for growth and development. We are optimistic that GODA will serve as a powerful catalyst to foster socio-economic advancement and to enhance the overall quality of life for our people.
“Through GODA, we believe that your administration’s goal to reduce poverty rates and increase access to essential infrastructure, currently limited for over 30% of households, will soon become a reality. The agency’s targeted initiatives can bring significant improvements in healthcare, education, and public infrastructure, directly benefiting thousands in our communities.
“We also commend your thoughtful appointment of a qualified and experienced Board, led by Prof. Awa Kalu, SAN, as Chairman, and Engr. Obinna Odum as Director General, supported by accomplished members such as Dr. Onyinye Rufus-Obi, Surv. Ike Orika, and Chief Johnson Chukwu. Under their leadership, GODA is well-positioned to bring effective, data-driven solutions to our communities and to ensure that resources are directed where they are most needed.
“Once again, we thank you, Governor Otti, for your visionary approach and commitment to inclusive development. The Udo CHIA Foundation, along with the progressive indigenes of Ohafia, pledges its unwavering support and collaboration with GODA to bring this vision to fruition,” the statement said.
