Valentine Ozigbo, one of the aspirants for the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, has declared that his candidacy is driven by a desire to rescue the state from its current challenges.

Ozigbo, who is contesting under the Labour Party, made this statement on Sunday while addressing dignitaries from various political and religious backgrounds as a guest of the Osisioma Foundation at the Osisioma Peace Lodge in Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area.

According to ThePunch, Ozigbo expressed confidence that he possesses all the necessary qualities to be the next governor of Anambra State.

He described himself as a “child of grace” with a humble and disciplined upbringing, noting that his passion for politics stems from a commitment to restore the state’s lost glory.

He highlighted Anambra’s current struggles with security, pointing out that the state now has the worst security challenges in the South-East.

Ozigbo stressed that only the right leader could address these issues, and that with support from well-meaning citizens, he was ready to lead the state toward a brighter future.

He also emphasise his extensive experience in the business sector, which he believes would be instrumental in transforming the state.

“These are the essential things that need to be done to put Anambra back on the map,” Ozigbo said.

“Unfortunately, the state has become almost unlivable due to the rising crime rate, and it is now considered the worst in the entire South-East.”

He expressed regret that the state, once known for producing eminent figures like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, and Chinua Achebe, was now being ridiculed. Ozigbo reaffirmed his commitment to restoring Anambra’s past glory, echoing his campaign slogan, Ka Anambra Chawapu (Let Anambra Shine Again).

He stressed that the development of the state transcends politics and urged everyone to work together to elect the right leader capable of utilising the state’s resources effectively.

Ozigbo assured Dr. Chike Obidigbo, Chairman of the Osisioma Foundation, that he would make him proud if elected.
