A group of Northern Nigeria youth under the aegis of Arewa Peace Initiative (API), has slammed the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule for resorting to religious blackmail after his sacking by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
The group in a statement signed its National Coordinator, Yakubu Muh’d on Tuesday in Lafia, urged the embattled governor and the Nasarawa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to look inwards instead of “blackmailing” the people of Nasarawa State, saying: “The Governor knows he was rejected by both Christians and Muslims during the 2023 Governorship Election.”
“Arewa Peace Initiative says that rather than live up to the responsibilities of office by taking charge and securing Nasarawa State, Governor Sule was busy engaging in frivolous activities and allegations—which led to his total rejection by the masses during the governorship election.
“It is however imperative to state that Governor Sule and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are being haunted by their own shadows as the people of Nasarawa State know the persons as well as the political party with the history and penchant to scuttle prosperity and development.
“Arewa Peace Initiative, therefore counsels Governor Sule and the APC to look inwards as to why they were rejected by both Christians and Muslims during the governorship election— and— stop whipping unnecessary religious sentiments,” the statement said.
